After five years of the Thinking Digital Conference, we have amassed a sizeable library of some fabulous conference videos. This is the first in a series of highlighted talks in our archive and we’ll start by reviewing the most recent Thinking Digital in May 2012.

What was it like to work with Steve Jobs? Ken Segall, the author of Insanely Simple gives some great insights about his time working with Apple and Steve Jobs in this opener to Thinking Digital 2012.

Professor Paul Watson has been hugely successful in advancing Newcastle University’s computing research agenda. In his talk here he highlights a small slice of the terrific work being done by the Social Inclusion in the Digital Economy (SIDE) Project.

Adrian Hon is a British new media hero. He details here how he successfully used Kickstarter to help finance the creation of Zombies Run - one the most critically and commercially successful iPhone games of its kind.

Sweden’s Magnus Lindkvist is a rock-star trendspotter. We have been trying to bring Magnus to Newcastle for years and he didn’t disappoint in his stand-out talk here about how to think about the future.

INTRODUCING ELSPETH
And last but not least, allow me to introduce Elspeth Lawson who will be the Thinking Digital 2013 Producer. Elspeth brings huge breadth and depth of experience from the Great North Run to the GameHorizon and DIBI Web Conferences. I’m really looking forward to working with her for Thinking Digital 2013.

The team behind the Thinking Digital Conference will be back at The Sage Gateshead next week for our sister conference GameHorizon.

Taking place from the 27th-28th June GameHorizon will bring a wealth of speakers including David Helgason, Ian Livingstone, Torsten Reil, Volker Hirsch & Miles Jacobson to the stage to discuss the newest insights into the business of games. We just wanted to let you know that TEDxHousesofParliament (TEDxHoP) is happening this week on June 22nd.

TEDxHoP will delve into democracy in ways which will surprise, delight and challenge you, with the theme being “Democracy”.

This TEDx event will take place at the Houses of Parliament in Westminster, London with the day beginning at 12 noon in the historic Banqueting House on Whitehall, location of the execution of Charles I, and finishing in the Palace of Westminster at 10pm.

TEDxHousesofParliament is curated by TED speaker Jon Drori and co-produced by Herb Kim.

12:30 - Registration at Gateshead College

Registration for all workshops except “Whats Trending in Social Media” (which will be at The Tyneside Cinema) will open at Gateshead College from 12:30. If you are attending “Gadget DIY” or the “Flame Workshop”, make sure you have registered no later than 13:00.

13:15 - Workshop Bus Departs from Gateshead College

If you are on the “Gadget DIY” or “Flame Workshop” you will be picked up by bus from Gateshead College at 13:15. Please make sure you have registered before this time.

13:30 - Registration at Tyneside Cinema

If you are on the “Whats Trending in Social Media” workshop, you need to go to the Third Floor of the Tyneside Cinema to register for your workshop. Attendees of the “Whats Trending in Social Media” workshop do NOT need to go to Gateshead College.

14:30 - All workshops begin
